Fourth in a series displaying the creation of a turned wooden bowl. Right here the last shaping has been carried out and a cutout has been excavated to accomodate dovetail expansion jaws on a resource termed the Novachuck. This is a person manufacturer of self-centering scroll chucks – The jaws can be expanded and contracted to accomodate a range of cutout sizes. They are expanded to press tightly into the cutout, holding the workpiece in spot. The remainder of this stage is far more sanding just before mounting on the chuck. The subsequent step is to put the piece on the chuck and hollow the bowl out. Sad to say, the sapwood (mild coloration) found in previous pictures almost vanished when the remaining form was achieved. For 2016: one particular photograph each day (121/366)
