At the starting of the 19th secular, Orthodox Romanian and Serbian living in Fabric community used jointly St. George church in the existing market Traian. But because 1873 the two communities ended up commencing to different, and right after a judgment of 1901 the church St George remained Serb community and Romanian believers went to church St. Elijah on the banking institutions of Bega.
After setting up the class of Bega in 1910 was decided the demolition of the old church to build a new just one with the same devotion on Piața Morii. Do the job commenced in 1912 and were concluded in the summer of 1913.
That design was picked out architectural model of the Metropolitan Cathedral in Sibiu. The church was painted by John Zaicu and sculpture and woodwork ended up designed by Basil Joseph Nistor.
The church was renovated in 1916 with new exterior shades (it was white just before)
