Appealing discoveries underneath the toilet tile.
The original wall was painted a gold color. The lessen component of the wall experienced fake subway tiles: scored traces in the plaster that ended up then painted with shiny enamel to deliver a somewhat convincing “tiled” wall. (This was also accomplished in our kitchen area, which has a faux sq. tile wainscoting.)
At some incredibly early position, a stripe of black paint was included to the prime and bottom of the “tile” wainscoting. (Perhaps the identical time as black paint was included to the trim in the kitchen — 20s or 30s?)
