Angsila is a beautiful fishing village located about 8 kilometers from Chonburi City in Thailand. As soon as visitors arrive at the junction in the road, they are greeted by a welcome sign and an impressive pestle and mortar made from the local stone. This village is famous for its durable rock products, including pestle and mortars, artistic sculptures, lamps, and furniture. Angsila also offers delicious sea products, including dried shrimps, pickled clam, shrimp paste, sweetened fish, and dry squid, which can be purchased at the fresh seafood market or Saphan Pla Ban Angsila.

The 130-year-old fish market in Angsila is charming and picturesque, with colorful fishing boats docked at the harbor. The surrounding stalls sell various stoneware and seafood catches, which visitors can even have cooked on a small grill. The market is located next to a large car park for easy access.

Along the same road in Angsila is the Naja Chinese temple, a stunning temple with ornate buildings and dragon pillars beautifully adorned with dragons. Visitors can also find a well-laid-out garden and fountain for photo opportunities. Parking outside the temple is limited due to its popularity among visitors.

Another temple in Angsila is the Sala Ruesi temple on Khao Sam Muk Hill, also called the Monkey hill due to the number of monkeys there. Although the grounds boast a strange assortment of Buddhas and statues, the small grotto and large Buddha image are worth the journey to see. Visitors are warned about the wandering monkeys on the roads, footpaths, and grass areas, but the temple displays symbolic monkey models climbing rocks.

To reach Angsila, visitors can turn right at Angsila Junction from the kilometre marker 102 on the Sukhumvit road or take the highway 3134. Angsila was the first seaside resort in Thailand and has a rich history dating back to King Rama IV’s reign. The village was used as a recovery destination for patients with various illnesses due to its fresh air and seaside location. A member of the royal family built a recovery building in Angsila, creating the first resort in Thailand for this purpose.
