Oak Bay Avenue at Hampshire, Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
As with my former two “then and nows”, 45 many years elapsed among my snowy and sunny photo in early 1973 and dry, cloudy photo in early 2018. At initially look the scenes are similar, but a nearer research reveals some improvements.
This condominium/retail creating is in “Oak Bay Village”, the central portion of the most important shopping thoroughfare, Oak Bay Avenue, in Oak Bay which is a compact aspect of Increased Victoria. The upstairs of this creating attributes rental apartments with large ceilings and tons of pretty woodwork (I lived in a single for a though back again then), with retail below. All the firms have improved fingers, with the corner ‘Jack Burgess’ clothing store moved close by and replaced by ’25 Cats’ art studio. Across the Avenue the Financial institution of Nova Scotia is however there, albeit as ‘Scotiabank’ these days….Simply click the image to enlarge.
The most important false entrance of the setting up continues to be on the road sides now. Probably the most recognizable improve is the elimination of most overhead wiring, coupled with much more intensive wiring to models in the making by itself. The 1973 picture is taken from the Store-Simple supermarket’s parking whole lot, now constructed in excess of with a big retail+workplace block, so I had to stand by the road for the current shot.
