The author, Ian, is going on a business trip to Warrington, UK for an audit. Despite not being keen about being audited, he wakes up early and sets off, with his wife dropping him off so he can take photos before picking up the rental car. He uses his phone for directions since the car has no sat nav and listens to music to pass the time, eventually driving to Fotheringhay Castle to visit a church that was once the parish church of the House of York. He also visits a church in Titchmarsh before continuing on his journey to Warrington. He meets up with a friend before receiving a call to head to his hotel, a golf resort, which proves to be a difficult drive due to heavy snow.
