The newly painted and rigged 12 1/2-foot Grandy Skiff is rolled out of the shop in which it was designed for the initially time to put together for its launch day.
Each boat is custom designed by our pupils beneath the watchful eyes of their instructors.
The Grandy Boat Corporation was formely located on Lake Union in Seattle, and designed many hundreds of boats both equally significant and compact all through a extensive tenure there. These little craft are one particular of our most common boats.
Our Grandy’s lines were taken by our Chief Teacher, Tim Lee, from an initial boat.
The Grandy’s we build are commonly in between 11.5 and 14.5 feet lengthy. They’re lapstrake planked in western purple cedar, with sapele stems, keels and transoms. Frames are White Oak or Black Locust.
The Northwest University of Wooden Boatbuilding is located in Port Hadlock WA, on the Olympic Peninsula, and is a personal, accredited non-gain vocational faculty.
