The pirogue is a flat base canoe designed for tranquil shallow waters and swamps. I created this just one from Uncle Johns.com designs. The spruce and redwood flotation compartments are my own style. Powerful, but they added alot of bodyweight and difficulty in cartopping. Also, this style and design weathercocks terribly in the wind…but then it was hardly ever developed for choppy waters.
Ideally the Wooden Duck 12 will clear up these difficulties.
