Ian is on a business trip to Warrington in the UK for an audit. He starts his day by taking a walk on the prom and dropping off his cats before heading out on the road in a Toyota Yaris. He uses his phone for navigation and listens to music from his Apple music store while also planning a detour to Fotheringhay Castle, a historical site where Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned and executed. He takes photos of the St Mary and All Saints church in Fotheringhay, which was once the parish church of the House of York. Ian plans to visit other churches but ends up driving through Northamptonshire to Titchmarsh Village where he takes photos of the church, which has wall paintings that may be Victorian. His phone tells him he should arrive in Warrington by 4 pm, and he spends another hour with his friend Teresa on the way. Ian encounters heavy snowfall on his way to the golf resort where he is staying and ignores his fuel warning light to make it there safely.
