This perspective within the carriage maintenance shop at Horsted Keynes on 7th Oct 2017 exhibits function continuing on an ancient LBSCR 4-wheel carriage. LBSCR mentor number 328 was constructed to the style of William Stroudley and ran till 1918 when it was bought for further use as a “house”. Quite a few coach bodies about this period of time uncovered further use as holiday break residences or outbuildings. This one was taken off to the “bungalow city” that grew up on the spit of land recognized as Shoreham Seashore. It was recovered from Shoreham in Oct 2000 when the residence of which it was component was demolished. The carriage has been absolutely stripped and rebuilt on a new wheelbase and body. It is obvious that virtually all the woodwork in the interior has been changed but some of the outer first product has been reused. By the time the craftsmen have accomplished their operate this will be a pretty fantastic addition to the Stroudley coach set at the Bluebell Railway.
