We experienced a blast at the to start with meetup for Tam Makers, our new makerspace in Mill Valley. We hosted this free function at the wood store at Tamalpais Superior School in Mill Valley on June 8, 2016.
A diverse group of folks came to the visit the shop, discover about our lessons and examine how to grow our maker neighborhood. Contributors ranged from experienced artists, technologists, makers and woodworkers, to people today interested in understanding new techniques, as perfectly as superior college and center faculty learners and their mother and father.
We opened the shop at 6pm and people commenced to link correct away, examining out some of our demos, showing off current initiatives and touring the room. At 7pm, we gave a presentation on Tam Makers, and talked about our first programs, meetups and tools for grown ups and youth. We then talked about these courses as a team and been given some really useful opinions.
Most men and women had been quite fascinated in collaborating in Tam Makers and employing the makerspace often. They also liked the mix of courses, ranging from maker art to technological know-how and woodworking. Some folks signed up for lessons on the location and most needed to join additional meetups. Many presented to volunteer as very well. A single person explained this celebration had a terrific neighborhood sensation, not like much more commercially inspired makerspaces.
We’re genuinely happy that this initially meetup went so nicely and that so many folks want to take part actively. We search forward to collaborating with our new maker good friends very quickly!
