We had a blast at the initial meetup for Tam Makers, our new makerspace in Mill Valley. We hosted this free of charge celebration at the wood store at Tamalpais Higher University in Mill Valley on June 8, 2016.
A numerous team of persons came to the go to the shop, master about our classes and discuss how to mature our maker group. Members ranged from expert artists, technologists, makers and woodworkers, to folks intrigued in learning new expertise, as very well as substantial faculty and middle college students and their moms and dads.
We opened the shop at 6pm and individuals started off to connect ideal away, checking out some of our demos, showing off recent initiatives and touring the room. At 7pm, we gave a presentation on Tam Makers, and talked about our 1st programs, meetups and tools for grownups and youth. We then talked about these packages as a group and received some seriously helpful feedback.
Most individuals ended up quite intrigued in participating in Tam Makers and utilizing the makerspace often. They also favored the mix of classes, ranging from maker artwork to technology and woodworking. Some individuals signed up for courses on the spot and most wished to be part of extra meetups. Lots of presented to volunteer as properly. Just one individual said this party experienced a good community emotion, as opposed to extra commercially inspired makerspaces.
We’re really joyful that this very first meetup went so very well and that so lots of individuals want to take part actively. We appear ahead to collaborating with our new maker mates quite before long!
