I am making use of a Veritas #4 that Lee Valley sent me. It is a excellent plane. I have to hold out to get the reduced angle jack to airplane the end grain. I have been performing it all with Veritas and Stanley small angle block planes, but it get tough and hurts the hands and wrists.
