    Table Lg TB Left 1

Watch #1 – I simply call this my “Large Tumbling Block” desk. The pattern on table is the “Tumbling Block” quilt pattern. The desk stands 30” tall and is 47 1/4” broad and 54 ½” very long. There are virtually 6000 pieces on the overall desk. The items are used above the edge and on to the pedestal and toes of the table. The desk is completed in its purely natural coloration with 6 or 8 coats of varnish. Just after the varnish hardens for at least a month, I stage it and buff it to a superior glow. The parts are a bit over 3/16″ thick, glued on to a Baltic Birch foundation, so they keep up significantly much better than a slender veneer.
The sample has the illusion of a great deal of blocks but there are as many stars as there are blocks. The style forces you to see the blocks. On every single diamond, if you go to the facet you are in the middle of a block. At every single point you are in the center of a star that has 6 factors.
The type of wood is shown on the base of the table typically from the centre out but on this pattern all 3 types of wooden are similarly near to the heart. On this table the light wooden is “Ash”, the dim wood is “Walnut” and the other is “Oak”, all from Missouri.
The 3 images present how the sample goes about the edge and seems to change as opposed to the adjoining facet. Reverse sides of the pedestal are the identical, adjoining sides are various corresponding to the pattern going more than the edge of the table from the best. It offers a different search to every foot on the desk. The design does have a continuity heading to the adjoining aspect of both the pedestal or edge of the table.
I produced this table in 2000 and got it finished in 2001. It is large desk selection 11. On the base I signed it, listed the wood, dated it and put the number of the table.

At the time the items are minimize and ready I glue them on the plywood, bringing just one place at a time out to the suggestion. Soon after I glue each and every row on, the glue that squeezes out the base of the piece needs to be shaved off working with a chisel so the next row can in good shape up tight from it.
