Birmingham Heritage 7 days Open Working day at Bournville Parish Church: St Francis of Assisi.

Different properties in Bournville Village ended up open on the heritage open day on Saturday 11th September 2021.

1st I went to Bournville Village Key School. then the Quaker Friend’s Conference Property, and finally Bournville Parish Church (St Francis of Assisi Church).

Here you had to sanitise your fingers, and scan the NHS QR code as you went inside for a glimpse.

Concluded 1925, by W Alexander Harvey. Brick with minimal stone dressings Roman
tile roof with Lombardic eaves cornice. In a spherical-arched design and style. Basilican in
plan with apses east and west, slim lean-to aisles and north and south porches.
Granite arcade coluans whose capitals are alternately carved and unoarved. Six bays,
the aisle window and couplet to every bay. Excellent woodwork in the stalls. South
chapel of 1966. The church kinds a group with the Parish Corridor to which it is
physically connected on the remaining.
