The Port Townsend (Washington) Yacht Club (PTYC) was organized in February, 1947. Welcoming and welcoming to all intrigued get-togethers, the Club has virtually 1 hundred lively customers, and hosts a wide variety of things to do and cruises all over the year. Membership is open to all.

The Club hosts Opening Day ceremonies on the very first Saturday in May well to rejoice the commencing of the boating and cruising time in our corner of the Pacific Northwest. This year, the ceremony and boat parade was held Saturday, Could 2nd, 2015 on the Port Townsend waterfront, Commodore Gerry Walsh officiating. This 12 months, in marked distinction to the prior calendar year, the climate was completely stunning.
Ceremonies start off with an Opening Working day breakfast at the Club’s services just north of the Port Townsend Boat Haven which was concluded by a flag-raising done by the regional Sea Scouts and Pledge of Allegiance.
Commodore Gerry Walsh presided over the Opening Working day parade. The examining stand was at the Northwest Maritime Middle pier, which affords a wonderful look at of the Port Townsend waterfront. Gerry’s freshly christened boat, CELTIC Solar, was moored at the foot of the pier.

Port Townsend Yacht Club members followed up with the wide variety of vessels the two sail and power owned by users of the Club.
The Club was honored by a VHF radio handle from the mayor of Port Townsend, and the ceremonies and parade were closed with the common “Blessing of the Fleet” for all. Later on, customers and company loved the sunshine and outstanding weather with sails and cruising close to the area and a chowder supper at the conclude of the day.
