  • Incredible Woodwork Found within the Walls of Gunwalloe Church

    Amazing Woodwork inside Gunwalloe Church

St Winwaloe’s Church is located in Gunwalloe, Cornwall, UK. It is predominantly from the 15th century, but parts of the church date back to the 13th century. The church has a unique three-hall design and an unusual statue outside the entrance. One of the fonts is believed to be from the Norman era. The church has a detached bell tower which adds to its charm. Some of the elements inside the church, such as the woodwork, stonework, kneeler cushions, and stained-glass windows, make for stunning photography opportunities.

The Churches Project started in April 2015 when the photographer wanted to capture more black and white photographs of Cornwall’s granite landscapes. However, a visit to Zennor Church helped him realize that the area’s churches and churchyards had more photographic interest for him. The gritty appearance outside added to the beauty inside, making them ideal for black and white photography. The Churches Project was born, featuring photographs and stories of the churches he visited.

The Cornish Historic Churches Trust is a non-profit organisation that helps to care for Cornwall’s beautiful churches for future generations. Their website is available for those who want to support their work. The photographer’s equipment and photography are sponsored by inlinefilters.co.uk, who serve the automotive industry as filter specialists.

Piktour is the photographer’s portfolio website and blog. He is based in Cornwall, and his blog features various Cornish landmarks, towns, and cities for those who want to plan a visit to the area. People who are interested in his photography are welcome to use his pictures, but he requests attribution if they are used for commercial purposes.
