Ian has to travel to Warrington, UK, for an audit at the head office. He is not pleased as he will be one of the audited employees. He wakes up early, and while Jools goes for a swim, he packs his bags. He looks forward to seeing actual snow once he reaches Manchester. Jools drops Ian off on the promenade so he can take a walk and photographs before picking up the rental car. The rental place is not open yet, but a few minutes later, a man arrives to let Ian in. He is given a Toyota Yaris, which he is not pleased about. He connects his phone, and his Apple music store starts playing music.
Ian remembers seeing a short documentary about Mary Queen of Scots being imprisoned at Fotheringay Castle in Northamptonshire, and he decides to make a detour. Ian presses on to the village of Fotheringay, where he visits St Mary and All Saints church- the parish church of the House of York. He crosses over the bridge and drives into the village where he takes some photos of the church. The church is 15th century and is in its Perpendicular finest.
After his visit, Ian continues driving north on the A14 until he sees a large tower and a lane that leads to the village of Titchmarsh. Ian visits the church there and takes some photographs. After his visit, he continues driving to Warrington to meet a friend.
Ian’s friend lives on the other side of Warrington, so Ian has to travel further north before heading east. The journey is slow due to the snow, and Ian receives a call from a guy he’s supposed to be meeting. The guy tells him to get there sooner rather than later as heavy snow is falling. Ian says his goodbyes and directs himself to the hotel. The final mile of Ian’s journey is very scary due to the excess snow and a fuel warning light that has just turned on. However, Ian manages to arrive safely.
The hotel Ian is staying at is a golf resort, and he looks forward to having dinner there. During his stay, he meets up with a colleague and receives a tour of the facilities at the golf resort. Ian’s journey supplemented with his detour visits to St Mary and All Saints and Titchmarsh church made for a memorable trip.
