In 1966, the film industry was awed by the release of the sci-fi thriller “The Time Machine”. Directed by George Pal, the movie was an adaptation of H.G. Wells’ novel of the same name, and featured a time machine so iconic that it has become a popular piece of art in its own right.

The time machine from the film was designed to resemble a Victorian armchair, complete with leather upholstery, brass details, and intricate clockwork mechanisms. It was a masterpiece of set design, and has been a source of inspiration for creatives, artists and designers ever since.

As a result, many have attempted to recreate the time machine, either through drawings, models, or even full-scale replicas. One person who has made it their mission to bring the time machine to life is a talented craftsman named John Brunning.

Brunning has devoted countless hours to building a replica of the 1966 George Pal time machine, using poplar wood and a variety of other materials. He has shared his progress on Instagram, documenting everything from the initial design sketches to the final details.

Brunning’s attention to detail is truly remarkable. He has recreated every aspect of the time machine, from the ornate clockwork mechanisms to the delicate buttons and knobs on the control panel. He has even gone so far as to upholster the chair in authentic-looking leather, and add brass components to give it an antique feel.

While the time machine replica is clearly a labor of love for Brunning, it is also a testament to his craft skills. He is able to take a series of disparate components and turn them into a cohesive, striking piece of art. The level of care and attention that he puts into each detail is truly impressive, and his dedication to the project is inspiring.

For anyone interested in building their own time machine replica, Brunning’s Instagram account is a must-see. He offers detailed updates on his progress, as well as step-by-step instructions on how he achieved each element of the design. His work is a testament to the artistry and passion that goes into building such intricate models, and proves that with enough dedication, anything is possible.

Overall, Brunning’s time machine replica is an impressive feat of creativity and craftsmanship. It is a true tribute to the iconic design of the original time machine, and a testament to the enduring legacy of George Pal’s 1966 film. For anyone who loves the world of sci-fi and fantasy, this piece of art is a must-see.
