The author of this article stumbled upon a cool spot to take some pictures with their Mamiya RB67 camera and Polaroid film. As they shot away, they thought they knew what to expect from the bleach process, but they were in for a surprise. The particular polaroids they were using had an extra layer under the emulsion which made for overly dense negatives. Despite the challenge of working with a low dynamic range, the author was pleased with the unexpected and “weird” results they achieved.

This place where I stay is an crazy mixture of models. All-around 20 several years back another person made the decision that there ought to be Tudor beams and screwed them to each individual ceiling. They painted every single sq. inch of woodwork the darkest brown. There are Edwardian brass taps and Victorian cast iron radiators. And you will find a farmhouse kitchen, with wallpaper that reminds me of bare plaster walls in a café in the south of France with cheery Provençal curtains and blinds.

This clock is mine – an oversize timepiece that worked brilliantly on the 4 metre large wall of our flat in Amsterdam. I have no question that it will do yet again, when the gasoline lamp design gentle fitting and these damned beams are gone.

I held my curtains from Amsterdam also – I had to pay a high quality to have them produced up mainly because they were so lengthy. The male I sold the flat to available me a ludicrous price tag for them so I took them down and stored them for two several years until I found a good residence for them.

But again in England just after 10 yrs overseas, I appeared at English properties and at my household furniture and I realised how significantly I might transformed.

I’d emigrated with a pair of Chesterfield sofas and a fall leaf table absent and returned to England with an oversized clock and a folded glass coffee table. The sofas are extended long gone way too, in their put a pair of sleek black settees.

Taken in Mandalay, Oct 2000. This was taken at an previous and pretty lovely monastery/temple in Mandalay that had a ton of stunning, sculptural woodwork. There were a number of monks about when we acquired there, and I think the monk pictured over was the abbott, but I could have misunderstood. The a single point that I do remember with good clarity was that he experienced some incredibly certain concepts about how a monk must be pictured. I are inclined to seriously like organic pictures, and to be considerably less psyched about posed photographs in my possess work. But he was insistent that this was the shot. He dug out the book, dragged the chair about by the doorway, and posed himself. And I have to confess, he was appropriate. Taken with a Yashica Mat LM.
