    Laser Cutting Class

    Our 2nd laser slicing class at Tam Makers, taught by Geo Monley and Chelsea Andersson. This new evening class for older people took put on June 22, 2016 at the woodshop in Tam Higher Faculty, Mill Valley.

    We started the course at 6pm, by exhibiting learners how the laser cutter performs in element. We then took turns reducing up picture frames and other very simple jobs, although the rest of the class took a certification quiz.

    Students appeared to enjoy this class and told us they learned a large amount from it. This is a person of our very first maker classes at Tam Makers, and we’re truly pleased that it is likely so properly we look ahead to instructing additional courses in the fall.

    Our next laser chopping class at Tam Makers, taught by Geo Monley and Chelsea Andersson. This new evening study course for grownups took put on June 22, 2016 at the woodshop in Tam Substantial School, Mill Valley.

    We began the class at 6pm, by demonstrating college students how the laser cutter works in element. We then took turns chopping up photo frames and other basic tasks, while the rest of the course took a certification quiz.

    Pupils seemed to appreciate this class and advised us they discovered a large amount from it. This is a single of our initially maker programs at Tam Makers, and we’re seriously satisfied that it is heading so properly we glance ahead to educating a lot more courses in the fall.

    Maker Art at Tam High

    We designed superior development on all fronts in this week’s ‘You Can Construct It’ workshop with my mentor and husband or wife Geo Monley, in his point out-of-the-art woodshop at Tam Large Faculty in Mill Valley.

    Our good friend Alice Menge and Phyllis joined us for at the start off of the session, and I laser reduce for them some gorgeous eagle styles for a new art undertaking.

    I then finished the body of the artwork cart I am building for my personal maker courses, to showcase our students’ do the job for the Town of the Foreseeable future system.

    Geo’s high university course completed ‘Makers Field’, the animatronic metropolis they produced less than his assistance. The course has accomplished a good career with this venture, which is now ready to display off at Marinovators, a local maker faire at the College or university of Marin at the conclusion of the 7 days.

    I have joined forces with Geo to develop a new software referred to as Tam Makers, to provide a general public makerspace and maker courses for grownups and teens at Tam Higher — and develop a neighborhood of makers, students and instructors in South Marin.

    College students appeared to appreciate this class and instructed us they learned a large amount from it. This is a single of our 1st maker classes at Tam Makers, and we’re definitely pleased that it is going so perfectly we search forward to training far more courses in the drop.

    Maker Art at Tam High

    We are creating a general public makerspace in Tam Significant School’s state-of-the-artwork woodshop, to make issues with each other and expand a local community of makers, learners and academics in South Marin.

    This 7 days, I figured out from Geo how to make a ‘mortise and tenon’ joint for the cellular cart I am making in his ‘You Can Develop It’ workshop. We will use this cart to showcase the City of the Long term that our center university pupils are setting up with each other in our ‘maker art’ classes.

    Other workshop participants are earning very good development as properly, this kind of as the stunning wooden table shown below. Geo also showed off some of the 3D objects his superior university college students are earning for ‘Maker Field’, their animatronic city run with Arduino.

    These projects are excellent examples of what we could assistance with far more maker programs for grownups and teenagers in our new makerspace at Tam Higher. Additional on this later on.
