The author is in the middle of dealing with stray cats, particularly with Mama kitty who is in heat and attracting many tomcats to their yard. In an attempt to control the situation, the author had Mama kitty and one of her kittens fixed, leaving two more kittens to take care of. The author now has a house full of pets, including the Mama cat, a hairless rat, two kittens, and a dog. Evan’s mother is helping the author tame one of the kittens, who is initially grumpy but is slowly responding to being petted.
