Deadwood is a metropolis in South Dakota, United States, and the county seat of Lawrence County. It is named just after the lifeless trees found in its gulch. The inhabitants was 1,270 according to the 2010 census. The entire town is a National Historic Landmark District, for its well-preserved Gold Rush-era architecture.
