    Truffle fries with parmesan

The writer of this blog post, titled “Melanie’s Birthday,” discusses their recent visit to Mission Beach Cafe in San Francisco, California for a celebratory meal. They specifically mention the truffle fries with parmesan, which they photographed using their Olympus E-P2 camera with a M. Zuiko Digital ED 14-42mm lens. The resulting image was processed using Adobe Camera RAW, nik Sharpener Pro (for raw presharpening), Topaz DeNoise 3, nik Color Efex Pro (for adjusting contrast and warmth), and BorderFX. The settings used were 1/13 second shutter speed, ISO 1200, and 14mm focal length (equivalent to 28mm on a full-frame camera).

The writer notes that they wish the E-P2 had a “food shot” mode like their Sony camera, which would help preserve colors and contrast for post-processing. They also provide a link to the original photograph, which may require them to add the viewer as a contact on the platform.

    Traveling to Baker Beach.

I didn’t know I’d stop by Baker Seashore but since I bought shed, why not? I scouted some regions to just take a sunset shot, but the tide was coming in and that meant that a good angle was unattainable (not to self: seek the advice of tide tables right before likely out).

I determined to consider a multi-publicity shot in purchase to emulate waterblur with my lens (which won’t support filters). Thus I acquired again much enough to get Golden Gate Bridge into view, established up my tripod in the vicinity of the drinking water and performed a sport of tag with the ocean until I received 10 exposures. I shed a couple situations doing so primary me to bear in mind why I utilized to have an excess pair of socks when I went mountaineering.

The graphic isn’t as sharp as I’d like for the reason that the tide coming in did two things, just about every wave sunk the tripod a minor further into the sand and the vibrations from the h2o went up as a result of the tripod. I could not wait till it settled because I was nervous my digital camera equipment may possibly get swept absent by a major wave! Aperture was put very compact in order to get the shutter speed as low as doable. I considered any reduce and diffraction outcomes might have dominated. It turned out, it would not have mattered.

My sensor was filthy and so was my lens. I experimented with to eliminate the most egregious spots. All I did was up the contrast, but this prompted the waves to stand out also a great deal so I gentle-targeted them digitally.

Just soon after putting my machines away at Camp Reynolds to hike back to the ferry, I caught sight of this little flower and experienced to convey it all back again out all over again to snap a couple photographs of it. I definitely must commence carrying close to a ebook or one thing so I can establish these issues.

I had other pictures which ended up much better focused that this a single, but I like the abstract pattern developed by the grass driving it. I tried out to emphasize it with a very little distinction and darkish vignetting on the corners.

Handheld images is truly a massive soreness with a macro shot. Specifically, when you are zoomed in to 200mm. Technically talking I should really have stopped down the aperture a bit extra given that at this aperture, depth of subject is about a tenth of an inch.

But in this situation, the challenging section was framing. As you can see one particular petal fell just off the frame. It’s not the conclude of the globe, considering that I like it this way. Element of anything obtained right into the body on the still left which I patched away with Aperture.

    Dawn at Treasure Island

The weather was miserable on Saturday but on the off prospect that it would obvious up right before sunrise, I drove down to Treasure Island and attempted my hand at outside photography in above a year. For me, environment up in the pre-dawn for a photograph at sunrise is chicken soup for the soul.

The solar only broke as a result of for a few minutes, but it was sufficient to choose this photograph. By the time I jockeyed my camera for a satisfactory angle, I identified out I was location up in the h2o!

Considering the fact that this lens can not mount a ND filter, I stopped down as a lot as feasible (f/22), set the ISO as reduced as attainable (LO -1EV) and then took 10 exposures averaged in digicam (multi-exposure mode), to emulate what a ND 1.2 would have finished at f/16.

There is a little cheat below. In purchase to capture most of the sky and the horizon the way I desired, I experienced to swipe section of the rocks in the foreground from a unique (but identically established) publicity, technically this tends to make this a vertical panorama, but since the merge issue is in the (multi-exposure integrated) drinking water, I just blended them and avoided nearly anything fancy.

There was an insane sum of dust on the senor and lens factor. Because of this, I had to use the mend instrument liberally. A digital quality ND introduced again the rocks in the foreground and authorized the sky to be saturated and nevertheless maintain contrast. The rest of the postprocessing was finished to give it that postcard look and then toned back a little bit. u-factors have been used to maintain the rock out of shadow and the buildings in North Beach front (the only matter in direct mirrored daylight) from getting absolutely blown out.

Simply click for initial photograph (If you are not able to watch this, increase me to your contacts and I’ll increase you to my close friends. If you are presently a contact of mine then just jet me a information and I will correct your standing.)
