Babcock & Wilcox Boilers (Part 2)

I need to say that I cheated and pulled the down below off of Wikipedia. It seemed to say the points far better than I could articulate them……..

The authentic railroad routine maintenance stores have a pair of Babcock & Wilcox boilers, a 19th-century stationary steam engine, and an overhead line shaft system (metal shafts, wooden and iron pulleys and leather and canvas belts) that powers antique equipment instruments, sheet-forming machines, foundry gear, blacksmithing equipment and woodworking equipment.

These boilers stand nearly two comprehensive stories and I imagine were rather the hum of action back in the day powering numerous of the equipment and devices in the retailers.

Penelope (our first granchild) in our Antique Cradle

Our granddaughter taking a nap yesterday afternoon in a cradle that has been in my family members for lots of many years…I slept in this as a child in 1973 it was offered to my wife and I in 1994 when our son was born and utilised once more in 1998 when our daughter was born now it is remaining used by our son’s daughter although going to our residence in 2021. In addition, we received this cradle from my grandparents who owned their individual antique store and dealt antiques for lots of many years prior to I was born. I do not keep in mind a tale about where it was obtained or when but I consider it to be quite a few decades more mature than me. And it shows in the craftsmanship of the woodwork as nicely as the have on on the cradle around the yrs. And…as a remaining position of sentiment…the blanket that she is laying on was designed by my grandmother (identical just one who owned the cradle) when I was a baby and passed together with the cradle in 1994 for us to use with our son. All the other quilts hanging on the cradle were being also utilized by our little ones lots of years in the past (besides the a person masking her up). So…there’s a great deal to unpack in this photograph for me…and a great deal of inner thoughts, recollections, and attractive situations. Just the considered of our granddaughter in this cradle soon after observing our small children use it as babies and understanding it was mine as well is nearly overpowering…attractive household record and attractive recollections!!
