Learn to build this traditional Norwegian Pram during the Spring Workshop March 31st - April 4th 2014 at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding

    Dates: March 31st – April 4th, 2014 (five days)
Time: 8:30am – 5pm with an hour for lunch and two 15 minute breaks
Tuition: $795 (Boat College pupils and alumni $600)
    Instructor: Jay Smith, Aspoya Boatworks
Contact: facts@nwboatschool.org for aspects and to sign up for this class.

Jay Smith, the effectively-acknowledged operator of Aspoya Boatworks, is coming to the Faculty to instruct our spring workshop. Look at out this video of Jay talking about 1 of his “more compact” jobs- the 55-foot Viking Longboat he’s constructing near Anacortes WA. making use of regular Norwegian applications and methods. www.youtube.com/observe?v=nL6Uso6Hcoo

Jay is the “genuine offer” – he’s devoted his everyday living to learning and developing these boats, from substantial to small.

Workshop students will find out how to build a Norwegian “Ferge”, or ferryboat that is ten ft lengthy as illustrated in the image. The workshop will emphasize building the boat by eye, rightside-up, employing hand equipment and tree nail (“trunnel”) fastenings.Familiarity with hand resources is a will have to for this class, as the course is way too short to educate sharpening and tool use.

The boat will be marketed after the class.
