    Singer 28k made in 1940 at the Kilbowie manufacturing facility, Clydebank, Scotland

    I’ve been hunting for a doing the job classic machine for a number of years, and was delighted to locate this in a regional garage sale. It was covered in dust and grime acquiring been abandoned and unloved in an attic for a very long time. It was also missing some essential parts which we’ve managed to supply, and however beneath the grime I could see a fantastic equipment ready to be restored.

    We have taken it all apart (partner is a precision engineer), cleaned and lubricated every one nut and bolt, polished the metal components and waxed and polished the system and the woodwork and hey presto it now purrs and stitches properly. I’m certainly delighted with the result, and I can even sit and sew in the backyard garden devoid of the require for energy – delighted times!
