This is a chess board I made for my father for a Xmas current. The wooden is unquestionably stunning. It is designed from alternating parts of figured black walnut (Juglans nigra) and Fiddleback Maple (Acer saccharum) which are trimmed in a dim, black ebony (Diospyros dendro). The fram is created of South American Bloodwood (Brosimum Rubescens). The foundation is bloodwood and fiddleback maple joined employing a by means of dovetail.
This is my second woodworking job, and it took me in all probability 50 hrs of work to do.
I really like how it turned out, and feel the wood is incredibly wonderful.

okay so i took this class seeking to make some furniture. but it turns out that the to start with woodworking class only has 1 project… for the whole semester. and this is it, a box. it essentially came out rather properly and teaches you how to use all the devices. the sides are purple oak and the joints are also held jointly with black walnut pegs. the lid is birdseye maple which is a incredibly interesting patterned wooden albeit a tad high-priced. my coin assortment now resides in this box as it outgrew the previous box i experienced it in. upcoming semester : home furnishings
