I was framing up a wall that is now in my art studio.
It divides the Frog Space from the Workspace.

    handmade buttons

Holy crap! Did you know you can make buttons?!?! I generally believed they grew on people racks in outlets. Or else in people very little plastic baggies you see connected to new garments.

These were created from a maple in all probability pine twig from my yard. I have a total photoset with instructions right here.

Here is how I built these, my first buttons – note that I’ve changed the process a small bit if you search at the set.

    1. Pick out a stick of the appropriate diameter (I applied a useless one particular from the floor with no bark on it). Identify a straight, smooth portion of the adhere, and slice off any twiggy bits that may well get in the way.

    2. Right after cutting a person end flat with a noticed (this will be the surface of your first button), clamp the stick in a vise and drill two holes into the conclusion of the adhere. The adhere should now glimpse like a pig’s nose. ( : )

    3. With a miter box (and a clamp to keep the stick in position), slice slices off the conclude of the pig’s nose. How numerous slices you get is dependent on how long your drill bit was. When your slices begin coming out without having holes, get the drill back out and repeat phase 2.

    4. Your new buttons will be rough, so sand them down. Maintain the button with your fingernails and rub it towards some 100-grit sandpaper on a block. Don’t forget about to sand the “corners” where by they could catch on apparel.

Which is all I did. For a extra polished seem, use some finer sandpaper and a normal end (Tried using & Accurate Danish Oil is a attractive and non-poisonous selection).

I even now can not believe that I made BUTTONS!
