Vilnius College (Kaunas School of Humanities) (Kaunas)
Kaunas College of Humanities (VU KHF) is the only tutorial subunit of Vilnius College that is situated in a distinct city. For as very long as 50 years (since 1964), the School is positioned in a homely Old City nook in close proximity to the Aleksotas (if not regarded as Vytautas Magnus) bridge. The attractive premises of the 16th – 17thcenturies in the Muitinės Avenue, cozy Renaissance courtyards, arched cellars and unique lecture rooms embellished with niches and woodwork resemble the ensemble of the longstanding Vilnius University premises. School structures conceal the prosperous historical path of medieval German merchants’ life. The Western block served the reason of the royal Kaunas customized-home in the 5th-6th centuries. Nearby, loaded German merchants had been constructing residential and farmhouses the retailers became Lutherans immediately after the Reformation in Germany. With the target of establishing on their own in one area in the town, they slowly purchased all the buildings and heaps of the Western block. One of the retailers – J. Naugardas – purchased all the constructions of the Western block, and right after his dying his son-in-law sold the constructions to the Lutheran community. The adornment of the full block (also identified as the Lutheran block) is the Evangelic Lutheran Church built in 1682-1683. The design of the church was completed only after 200 several years when the bell tower was crafted based on the architect Jokūbas Voleris’ project in 1860-1862.( www.khf.vu.lt/)
