    Fikardou village, Cyprus (Αίγια Φούξια)

A tiny village that has been designed popular by a Cypriot comedy Television collection and a whole lot of people are checking out it.

All through the winter season it has only 4 inhabitants (while there are a lot more individuals being there throughout their summer season holidays). I’m guessing that the residences in the image higher than must be the inhabited kinds and the residences in the photo down below (in the comments) are the kinds that are vacant.

The village has been declared an historic monument and very carefully restored to protect the 18th century properties with their amazing woodwork and folk architecture. It has acquired the Europa Nostra Award in 1987.

The Cypriot comedy Television set sequence Αίγια Φούξια (Aigia Fuxia) exhibits the lifetime in Cyprus 100 a long time ago and its key plot is about the mystery when 15 men and women died on the exact same day and nobody is familiar with why.

The keep of Beynac - Dordogne - France

The castle was developed in the 12th century by the barons of Beynac (a person of the 4 baronies of Périgord) to near the valley. The sheer cliff face getting ample to discourage any assault from that side, the defences were being crafted up on the plateau: double crenellated walls, double moats, 1 of which was a deepened normal ravine, double barbican. The oldest portion of the castle is a big, square-shaped, Romanesque preserve with vertical sides and handful of openings, held alongside one another with hooked up view towers and equipped with a slim spiral staircase terminating on a crenellated terrace. To just one facet, a residence of the very same time period is connected it was remodelled and enlarged in the 16th and 17th centuries. On the other facet is a partly 14th century home aspect-by-side with a courtyard and a sq. approach staircase serving the 17th century apartments. The flats have saved their woodwork and a painted ceiling from the 17th century. The Salle des États (States’ Hall) has a Renaissance sculptured fire and sales opportunities into a smaller oratory fully coated with 15th century frescoes, integrated a Pietà, a Saint Christopher, and a Previous Supper in which Saint Martial (initially bishop of Limoges) is the maître d’hôtel. At the time of the Hundred Years’ War, the fortress at Beynac was in French hands. The Dordogne was the border amongst France and England. Not far absent, on the opposite financial institution of the river, the Château de Castelnaud was held by the English. The Dordogne area was the theatre of many struggles for influence, rivalries and once in a while battles amongst the English and French supporters. Even so, the castles fell additional often through ruse and intrigue fairly than by immediate assault, simply because the armies desired to choose these castles had been exceptionally high-priced: only the richest nobles and kings could create and maintain them.
