It is certain that in or about 1115 a church was created or re-constructed for the reason that King Henry I granted by charter to Salisbury Cathedral, then positioned at Aged Sarum, specific church buildings, among which had been people of Coombe and Harnham. The north and south walls of the nave and chancel are Norman, as can be found in the spherical-headed home windows on the north aspect also in the arch on the north facet of the doorway main from the vestry into the nave.

In the 14th century the compact Norman chancel arch was enlarged, therefore reducing off elements of the stone nave altar and the semicircular recess with the wall portray of the Risen Chrst showing to Mary Magdelene in the Backyard garden, each of which can however be observed.

Also in the 14th century the chapel on the south facet was built, committed to The Holy Trinity. In the west wall of the Trinity Chapel is a horizontal slit regarded as a leper squint, which delivers a view of the altar for the benefit of any excluded from the creating by reason of leprosy or excommunication. There was a leper house in Harnham in the Middle Ages. The good 15th century wagon roof of the chancel has carved and painted heads and bosses.

Restoration was carried out in 1873-4 by the very well-identified architect William Butterfield. The gallery was eliminated and pews, pulpit, examining desk and othe woodwork replaced by the present types. The east and west partitions have been re-built. A new porch changed the previous leanto on the south aspect of the nave. The tower, re-created in the early 19th century, has two bells, a person 14th century and the other cast in Salisbury in 1692. All the stained glass home windows, altar triptychs and two altar frontals are early 20th century function by the artist Eleanor Warre, who lived nearby at The Previous Parsonage.
