The old S.K. (Cal) Coffman property on the corner of Morehead and Next streets in Central metropolis, which for many years stood as a mark of residential dignity amid the stream of city visitors, is now becoming torn down to give area for a parking great deal. Initially developed by Dr. J.T. Woodburn in 1910-11, the good brick residence contained leaded glass home windows, a forged iron fence – now a collector’s product – and certain pieces of handcarved woodwork. Dr. Woodburn was an early Central Metropolis main. Contrary to the speedily created homes of right now, the Woodburn property took condition slowly and gradually. Function progressed about the months, becoming the item of neighborhood craftsmen, most of whom had been doing the job off charges they experienced operate with Dr. Woodburn.
Whilst development was underway, the loved ones designed their dwelling in a frame home situated future doorway. All the property was previously owned by “Uncle” Sammy Danner, a community businessman who owned a planing mill that turned out doorways, window frames, and lumber. Mr. Coffman, a druggist and son-in-regulation of Dr. Woodburn, occupied the house in the 1920’s. He and his wife, Bertha, produced the old brick structure their house until eventually their deaths in 1952 and 1968 respectively. Dr. Woodburn had four daughters, Verna, Bess, Grace and Bertha, and one son, Dudley. Nonetheless living are Mrs. Verna Smith and Mrs. Bess Holt, both of those of Central Metropolis.
