CBMM’s Growing Tide boatshop application is a pilot initiative in collaboration with the YMCA of the Chesapeake. In November, 2015, the program began with 1 of two, six-7 days following-college boatbuilding sessions presented to Talbot County 6th quality students.
The pilot periods have limited participation, with the YMCA of the Chesapeake arranging registration and transportation from its Easton locale.
Funded via philanthropic assist, the plan is made to educate students standard boatbuilding techniques in a welcoming, calm environment. The aim of the plan is to empower learners to develop a sense of self-confidence and pleasure, and facilitate mentorships with shipwright educators that will offer steering and help through this vital yr in their advancement.
The classes involve mastering standard woodworking capabilities and basic safety methods, with various just take-dwelling tasks for participants.
