In this venture we re-sawed aged expansion, 3×8 barn joists from Bathtub NY. They are attractive previous growth southern yellow pine that was lower down in the 1870s-1880s and was hundreds of yrs old at that time. These trees in all probability predated the American Revolution. I rely about 120 rings for each 8 inches!
The slab was created and finished with satin, water-centered polyurethane. Nail holes, checks and divots ended up loaded to a superior level of end with West Program, very clear epoxy.One can see to the bottom of the holes.
The cast iron foundation was reclaimed from a rest room of the former unwed moms and kid’s dwelling on Harvard Put in Buffalo. It was created in the 19-teens and these legs have been ganged together and held up back again to again forged iron sinks. We stripped them and repainted them with satin enamel and dry brushed them with pewter paint to spotlight the graininess and the embossed letters and other exciting specifics from the casting.
The distance concerning the legs was shortened and the threaded rods were shortened and re-threaded to match the duration of the table. Matching ft ended up produced and added to the base of the legs and levelers had been included. The outdated sq. head nuts and bolts were saved, cleaned and re-utilised to maintain the primary glimpse.
