Port Hadlock WA - Boat School - Lofting the stem on the Herreshoff Buzzards Bay-14

The Buzzards Bay-14 was created by L.Francis Herreshoff in 1945 as a adhere to-on to the Herreshoff 12 1/2 built by his father, N.G. Herreshoff. www.herreshoff.org/hmm/index.html

These are beautiful, traditional picket boats. We normally create them with a fir or purpleheart stem and keel, mahogany transom (viewed in this image) and western pink cedar planking. The boats are typically a two 12 months challenge for us.

The Northwest University of Wood Boatbuilding is located in Port Hadlock WA and is a personal, accredited non-revenue vocational school.

Our mission is to instruct and protect the great artwork of wooden boatbuilding and classic maritime crafts.

You can come across us on the world-wide-web at www.nwboatschool.org .
