The Kingston Boat is a superlative example of a mid-20th century boat employed for recreational fishing on the Puget Seem. It was at first crafted in Kingston WA, on the Kitsap Peninsula, northwest of Seattle.

Boats like these were crafted by the hundreds from about 1915 or so through the mid-1960’s. Illustrations consist of the famed Poulsbo boat, the Mukilteo Boat, and the Sande boat (created by the Sande boat Corporation in Belfair WA). Most of these boats ended up the products and solutions of one particular or two guy retailers, and were being constructed to fish.

The Kingston Boat is about 16 feet extended and is run by a smaller British-constructed gasoline motor that have to be hand-cranked to start it. She is planked in western purple cedar more than white oak frames. She is a deep boat, made to carry a good total of excess weight in her capacious hull.

The operator of the primary boat approached the University and asked that we construct him a substitution boat to his authentic boat’s strains. Chief Instructor Tim Lee’s Common Substantial Craft college students constructed a traces jig and cautiously measured the boat in the spring of 2011, then lofted and it and began developing it in April. The moved alongside very speedily and completed most of the planking right before the training course finished in mid-June. The course of 2012 accomplished planking the boat and completed out most of the interior. The course of 2013 will set up the engine and shafting and finish the boat for her proprietor.
