A day out discovering in Neath Valley. October 2019

A bit of a past moment trip immediately after surprising excellent weather. I would cycled via the valley not long ago and discovered some dereliction, so I was eager to occur again with a camera.
Given that the cycle I would been researching maps and hoping to study the destinations I would spotted with a very little good results.
A odd row of houses and what looked like a manor in Clyne. A derelict victorian college in Clyne. And either a armed forces or industrial site in Rheola.

I also required to visit Cwmllynfell where by an open forged quarry was encroaching on the village and had presently swallowed up a residence or two and a lane. I fancied traveling to Cefn Coed Colliery Museum much too.

Enjoyed both of those web pages at Clyne, failed to get to see significantly as Rheola, Cwmllynfell wasn’t as appealing as I hoped as the google maps I would been learning were out of day, and the museum was shut for wintertime! Not a terrible working day out although.

Pen y Bank
An odd semi detached house, situated in a discipline with no evident street or observe going to it. Tricky to say how long it had been vacant, as some of the woodwork and so forth was in okay situation.
Livestock now making use of it as shelter, whilst I wouldn’t be keen to be in here in the course of substantial winds as it won’t seem like it’ll endure for extended.
Traces of a tramway just behind the house, and stays of coal mining in the trees driving. outdated-maps.co.united kingdom tells me that there was also a tin will work in the next industry. Resolven Tin Plate Operates operational from something like 1890 – 1949?
The trees on the two sides of Twrch Brook is littered with rusty equipment and modest tips from the mining, though a lower subject [location of Tin Plate Works] seems to be a farm machinery graveyard, which includes this wonderful Fordson tractor with a tree escalating out of it.
