The author is on a business trip to Warrington and starts his day by taking a walk before picking up the car for the journey. He listens to music and, knowing he has some extra time, decides to visit Fotheringay, the historic parish church of the House of York. He visits Titchmarsh on his way to Warrington and photographs the paintings on the walls of the church. After visiting a colleague in St. Helens, he makes his way to the hotel in a snowstorm. The journey is delayed due to a crash but he eventually arrives safely. The next day he conducts the audit at the head office.
