Deemed one of the very best engineering houses of its time, Nordyke and Marmon Organization grew to become regarded as America’s top rated mill builder. Furnishing entire machinery products for flour mills, corn mills, cereal mills, starch and rice mills and elevators, its founders and their descendants continued coming up with and earning good quality merchandise for pretty much 130 years.

Flour mills this sort of as this had 18′ French stone buhrs mounted in a weighty cast iron frame. It sold for $172 at the change of the century.

This flour mill is however in use these days at historic Falls Mill, TN. Built in 1873 as a cotton and woolen manufacturing facility, the mill was later converted for use as a cotton gin, then as a woodworking store.

This millstone, and other folks, are run by the greatest overshot water wheel recognised to exist in the United States, manufacturing cornmeal, flour, and grits for sale to the general public.
