Granville Island is a peninsula and purchasing district in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is positioned in Phony Creek right throughout from Downtown Vancouver’s peninsula, less than the south finish of the Granville Avenue Bridge.
Granville Island was at the time an industrial producing spot, but is now a big tourist location, furnishing features these types of as a general public current market, a massive marina, a lodge, the Emily Carr University of Artwork and Design and style (named in honour of the artist), Arts Umbrella, Wrong Creek Group Centre, many theatres like the Arts Club Theatre Firm and Carousel Theatre, and selection of shopping areas. A weekly Farmer’s Sector has been ongoing considering the fact that the early 1990’s – this was the first present-day Farmer’s Current market in Vancouver.
Granville Island Brewing Co. is also the title of a beer firm which originated on Granville Island in 1984, but whose key foundation of operations was moved to Kelowna, British Columbia some time later. In 2009 it was purchased by Molson’s Brewery and carries on to brew compact batches of its versions at the primary web site, and presents beer-tasting and tours of their brewing facilities.
In 2004, Venture for General public Spaces named Granville Island “One of the World’s Wonderful Areas”.
