Milkmen and boys with the carts of Wigmores Walton Manor Dairies.standing outdoors the companies shop at the junction of St.Aldates and Speedwell Avenue. An promotion feature of 1897 in which this photograph appeared explained the interior as:
“Gentle, ethereal and spacious, as becomes a superior present day dairy…..with its tiled floor, white marbled countering the tables, its brilliant woodwork, its rockeries and fernaries, its minature fountains and pools,in which gold fish appear to be to appreciate existence surprisingly effectively….”
The rockeries can just about be noticed via the plate glass window.
