St Senara’s Church is located in the village of Zennor in Cornwall, UK. The church has been standing on the current site overlooking the sea since at least the 6th century AD. It was founded by Saint Senara on her return from Ireland with her son, who himself became a bishop. The church is partly Norman in style and has a gritty look ideal for black and white photography on the outside. The interior of the church has some truly amazing colours in the woodwork, stonework, kneeler cushions and stained glass windows.
The photographer, who has created ‘The Churches Project”, has found great photographic interest in the churches and churchyards of Cornwall. The project was initiated in April 2015 after the photographer visited Zennor Church. The photographer captures the beauty of the church and the surrounding area in black and white, and the gritty exterior of the church is ideal for the use of black and white photography.
