This black walnut eating table was encouraged by a design and style by Sam Maloof. 1 of the modifications I built was that the plugs are all sacrificial. This way the entire table can be knocked down if it requires to be moved. The most intricate section of the challenge was the miter joints on the legs. They are joined with 3/4″ dowels and then people dowels are cross-pinned with 1/4″ dowels, which are then pared flush. It was concluded with a oil/varnish blend favored by Sam Maloof. The mix consists of 1/3 boiled linseed oil, 1/3 tung oil, 1/3 semi-gloss polyurethane.
