We are building a community makerspace in Tam Significant School’s condition-of-the-art woodshop, to produce amazing objects — and grow a group of makers, pupils and academics in South Marin.
In this article are some of the artworks we are creating in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, identified as ‘You Can Establish It’. With his enable, I am building a ‘maker art cart’ to showcase the function of our pupils — and Howard Rheingold is building a triangular desk for our Pataphysical Studios.
This 7 days, I employed the laser cutter to make people for our City of the Upcoming system. In this ‘maker art’ class, reduce and middle college students will build a futuristic home with a cardboard ‘wonderbox’ and animated characters these types of as these. They will provide these wood and acrylic figures to daily life with lights, sounds and movement, working with basic electronics.
