We are producing a community makerspace in Tam Large School’s point out-of-the-artwork woodshop, to generate cool objects — and expand a group of makers, students and academics in South Marin.
Listed here are some of the artworks we are developing in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, known as ‘You Can Develop It’. With his assistance, I am creating a ‘maker artwork cart’ to showcase the do the job of our students — and Howard Rheingold is creating a triangular desk for our Pataphysical Studios.
This week, I employed the laser cutter to make characters for our City of the Upcoming program. They will carry these wooden and acrylic figures to daily life with lights, appears and movement, utilizing easy electronics.
Geo showed off ‘Maker Field’, the animatronic city his large school learners are making with his support. Here’s their perform in development, which now options a variety of properties (together with ‘Trump Towers’ and a 5V electricity plant), as perfectly as a robot vehicle powered with Arduino.
These projects are fantastic examples of what we could assist with a lot more maker systems for adults and teenagers in this new Tam Substantial makerspace. Much more on this later.
