We are creating a general public makerspace in Tam Large School’s condition-of-the-art woodshop, to create great objects — and improve a neighborhood of makers, learners and instructors in South Marin.
Listed here are some of the artworks we are developing in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, termed ‘You Can Create It’. With his assistance, I am creating a ‘maker artwork cart’ to showcase the do the job of our college students — and Howard Rheingold is producing a triangular desk for our Pataphysical Studios.
This 7 days, I employed the laser cutter to make people for our City of the Long term course. In this ‘maker art’ class, reduce and center school students will build a futuristic house with a cardboard ‘wonderbox’ and animated characters this sort of as these. They will convey these wooden and acrylic figures to lifetime with lights, appears and motion, applying very simple electronics.
Geo showed off ‘Maker Field’, the animatronic town his large faculty college students are constructing with his assist.
