We are creating a community makerspace in Tam High School’s condition-of-the-art woodshop, to develop amazing objects — and increase a local community of makers, college students and teachers in South Marin.
Listed here are some of the artworks we are building in Geo Monley’s woodworking workshop, identified as ‘You Can Construct It’. With his help, I am building a ‘maker art cart’ to showcase the function of our pupils — and Howard Rheingold is making a triangular desk for our Pataphysical Studios.
This 7 days, I applied the laser cutter to make people for our Town of the Potential course. In this ‘maker art’ course, lessen and center university learners will make a futuristic dwelling with a cardboard ‘wonderbox’ and animated people these as these. They will provide these wooden and acrylic figures to lifetime with lights, appears and movement, making use of easy electronics.
Geo confirmed off ‘Maker Field’, the animatronic city his significant college pupils are building with his assistance. Here’s their work in progress, which now features a wide variety of properties (including ‘Trump Towers’ and a 5V electrical power plant), as well as a robot motor vehicle powered with Arduino.
These assignments are fantastic examples of what we could guidance with extra maker courses for grown ups and teens in this new Tam High makerspace. More on this later on.
