The church of Saint Jacob, in Leuven, is a big, late medieval, Gothic construction. It also functions an ornate Romanesque tower, belonging to an older church. It also functions 1 of only 3 remaining Gothic tabernacles in Belgium.
In the 1960’s the creating was observed to be unstable. The congregation moved to one more building, and the outdated church was guarded from collapse by the removal of most vaulting and the flying buttresses, and the installation of supports and scaffolding on the within.
The church was never ever fixed or restored and quite considerably put in the next 40 years quietly rotting away.
