Hancock Shaker Village
Pittsfield, Massachusetts
June 14th, 2015
Some data on this composition:
“This building is most probable one of the oldest constructions at Hancock Shaker Village. Originally a farmhouse belonging to a change, the making has grown all over the initial property, but it still retains its significant kitchen fireplace and fireplace in the middle of the 1st ground.
The Laundry & Machine Shop is a exceptional structure even inside a Shaker village, as it served as a shop for the joint use of both of those brothers and sisters. The brethren had a woodworking shop and the sisters experienced a laundry, the two making use of the 1858 drinking water turbine as a energy resource. The drinking water turbine and its belt-driven technique have been restored and operate several machines in the woodworking store.”
